DIAGNOSIS This is a total power failure. The most common cause is the battery in the control panel being dead or disconnected.
FIX First, check the battery. Open the control panel cover. Locate the 9V battery. Remove it. Test its voltage. It must be above 8.4V. Replace it with a fresh alkaline battery if low. Ensure the battery connector is snapped fully into place. Close the panel. Try to start.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The next step is to verify the fuel shut-off valve. It is on the fuel line between the tank and carburetor. Ensure it is in the ON position (parallel to the fuel line). If it was off, turn it on, wait 30 seconds for fuel to reach the carb, then try starting.
HEADS UP If the generator sat unused with fuel in the carburetor for months, the pilot jet is likely clogged with varnish. A no-start condition will persist until the carburetor is cleaned.
