ninja dualbrew pro brew basket keeps overflowing with grounds, making a huge mess. what am i doing wrong?

— asked by Jordan

Yeah, this one's common. The bottom of the brew basket is clogged, usually from using too fine a grind or too much coffee.

FIX:

  • Use a medium-grind coffee. Finely ground coffee is a major culprit.
  • Don't overfill the filter. Refer to the coffee measurement chart—using more than the recommended scoops can cause a clog.
  • Use either the permanent filter or a paper filter, not both. Using both causes grounds to clog and water to back up.
  • If you're using decaf, use fewer scoops. Decaf grounds absorb water differently and can swell more.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK: If it's still overflowing, clean the permanent filter thoroughly. Sediment can build up in the mesh. Hand-wash it with a soft brush. Also, ensure the sliding lid or Pod Adapter is correctly closed, as an improper seal can affect water flow.

HEADS UP: An overflowing basket can cause leaks from above the basket. If you see water there after a brew, this is your likely cause.
