Yeah, this one's common. The bottom of the brew basket is clogged, usually from using too fine a grind or too much coffee.
FIX:
- Use a medium-grind coffee. Finely ground coffee is a major culprit.
- Don't overfill the filter. Refer to the coffee measurement chart—using more than the recommended scoops can cause a clog.
- Use either the permanent filter or a paper filter, not both. Using both causes grounds to clog and water to back up.
- If you're using decaf, use fewer scoops. Decaf grounds absorb water differently and can swell more.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK: If it's still overflowing, clean the permanent filter thoroughly. Sediment can build up in the mesh. Hand-wash it with a soft brush. Also, ensure the sliding lid or Pod Adapter is correctly closed, as an improper seal can affect water flow.
HEADS UP: An overflowing basket can cause leaks from above the basket. If you see water there after a brew, this is your likely cause.
