i replaced all my filters but now the water tastes kinda flat or even worse than before, did i do something wrong?

The carbon fines and mineral fines from the new media need to be purged completely. FIX You need a full system flush. With all new filters installed and housings sealed, turn on the faucet and let it run. Don’t just run it for a minute. For a full set change, run it for a good 20-30 minutes minimum. This purges the air and all the loose carbon and mineral particles from the new media. The water might look gray or black at first—that’s normal. Let it run until it’s perfectly clear. Then, fill a glass and taste it. It should be back to normal. IF THAT DIDN'T WORK Double-check the order of the filters. The RCC7AK order is: 1. Sediment, 2. Carbon Block, 3. Carbon Block, 4. RO Membrane, 5. Inline Carbon (post-filter), 6. Alkaline. If you put the alkaline filter in a pre-filter spot, you’ve ruined it and it’s contaminating the membrane. HEADS UP When you change the RO membrane, you MUST use the new, correct flow restrictor that comes with it (usually color-coded). Using the old one with a new membrane can cause improper pressure and terrible taste/performance.

my system seems to be draining water constantly, like i can hear it running to the drain pipe non-stop, even when the tank is full.

DIAGNOSIS That’s a stuck Automatic Shut-Off (ASO) valve. Its job is to shut off feed water to the membrane when the tank is full. If it’s stuck open, water flows through the membrane and straight to drain indefinitely. FIX Locate the ASO valve (the black rectangular one with four ports). Gently tap its sides with the handle of a screwdriver to try and free up the internal piston. If that doesn’t work, you’ll need to replace it. To confirm it’s stuck, shut off the tank valve. If the drain flow STOPS after a minute, the ASO is likely okay and the check valve in the tank might be bad. If the drain flow continues with the tank valve closed, the ASO is definitely faulty. IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The check valve (a small one-way valve) on the tank valve assembly could be leaking, letting pressure from the tank back into the ASO valve, tricking it into thinking the tank is empty. This is less common but possible. HEADS UP A constantly draining system wastes a ton of water and wears out your membrane fast. Don’t let this go for more than a day or two. It’s also a sign your feed water pressure might be too low (below 40 PSI) for the ASO to function properly.

the water from my alk remineralization filter tastes weird, kinda chalky or metallic, is that normal?

That’s a classic sign that the alkaline remineralization filter (the 6th stage, usually the last canister) is brand new and needs a serious flush, or it’s failing/contaminated. FIX If it’s a new filter, it needs a massive flush. The media inside is calcite and other minerals that have fines. Turn on the faucet and let it run for a solid 30-45 minutes to flush all that out. Seriously, go do something else. The water may run white or cloudy at first—that’s the fines. After the flush, the taste should clear up to a clean, slightly smooth taste. IF THAT DIDN'T WORK If the taste persists or appears on an old filter, the filter media might be exhausted or, worse, contaminated. Check the filter’s age. The AK filter should be replaced every 6-12 months or 2000 gallons. If it’s past that, replace it. Also, ensure the filter is installed in the correct direction (flow arrow pointing towards the faucet). HEADS UP The water from the alkaline stage will measure a higher TDS than the pure RO water from stage 5. That’s the minerals being added back. Don’t panic if your TDS meter reads 20-50 instead of 5-10; that’s the point.

i see a puddle under the unit and it seems to be coming from the bottom of the filter housings, did i not screw them on tight enough?

DIAGNOSIS Leaks from the housing bottoms are classic. It’s either a cracked O-ring, a housing not seated straight, or the housing itself is cracked (less common). FIX Shut off the water and release pressure by opening the faucet. Unscrew the leaking housing(s) by hand. Carefully remove the filter and inspect the black O-ring at the top of the housing. Look for nicks, twists, or debris. Clean the groove it sits in. Lubricate the O-ring with a tiny bit of food-grade silicone grease (not petroleum jelly) and re-seat it. Screw the housing back on by hand until snug, then give it another quarter-turn with the wrench. Do not overtighten—that can crack the plastic or distort the O-ring, causing the very leak you’re trying to fix. IF THAT DIDN'T WORK Inspect the clear plastic sump (the housing itself) for hairline cracks, especially around the base or the threads. If it’s cracked, it needs to be replaced. Also check that the filter is the correct length; an overly long aftermarket filter can prevent proper seating. HEADS UP Always have a towel or small bucket handy when you service the filters. There’s always a cup or two of water left in those housings that will spill out when you open them.

my system’s tank doesn’t seem to fill all the way, it feels light even after hours, and the water just trickles out.

DIAGNOSIS The storage tank bladder has likely lost its pre-charge air pressure, or the shut-off valve (ASO valve) isn’t working right, stopping production too early. FIX First, check the tank pressure. Shut off the feed water, open the faucet to drain the tank completely, and close the faucet. Use a standard tire pressure gauge on the Schrader valve (looks like a tire valve) on the tank. It should read around 7-8 PSI when empty. If it’s at 0 or very low, use a bicycle pump or small compressor to bring it back to 7-8 PSI. Then turn the water back on and let it refill. You should hear the system shut off with a click when full. IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The Automatic Shut-Off (ASO) valve might be stuck or failing. This is the black rectangular valve with four tubing ports. If it’s stuck open, you’ll hear constant draining. If it’s stuck closed, production stops prematurely. Tapping it gently can sometimes free it, but it usually needs replacement. HEADS UP When checking the tank pressure, make sure the tank is COMPLETELY empty of water. Any water left in it will give you a false high reading. It has to be dry.

FIX First, try the simple fix: turn on the faucet all the way. If you only open it part-way, the water rushing past the valve can cause that chatter. Always open it fully. If it still chatters at full open, the issue might be your household water pressure. You can install a small water hammer arrestor on the cold water supply line feeding the RO system. For the RCC7AK, it’s sometimes recommended to add one if your static pressure is above 80 PSI. IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The solenoid valve in the faucet itself might be failing or have debris in it. You can try disassembling the faucet head (usually by unscrewing the aerator) and flushing it out. If the noise persists, the faucet may need to be replaced. HEADS UP Don’t ignore super high feed pressure. The system’s max is 100 PSI. Sustained pressure above that can damage the ASO valve and membranes. Consider a pressure regulator if your house pressure is consistently high.

just installed my rcc7ak and now there’s a constant slow drip from the faucet base where it comes through the sink, how do i stop it?

DIAGNOSIS That’s an installation seal issue. The leak is almost certainly from the faucet mounting nut not being tight enough, or the rubber washer/gasket under the sink not seated properly. FIX First, tighten the large chrome mounting nut under the sink—hand-tight plus a good quarter-turn with a wrench should do it. Don’t go Hulk on it, you can crack the faucet shank. If it’s still dripping, you need to check the seal. Turn off the water supply and disconnect the quick-connect line from the faucet. Unscrew the mounting nut completely and pull the faucet up. Check the rubber gasket/washer that sits between the sink and the faucet base. Make sure it’s not pinched, damaged, or missing. Re-seat it carefully, reassemble, and tighten. IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The leak might actually be from the quick-connect fitting itself, not the base. Disconnect and re-seat the plastic tubing into the faucet’s quick-connect port, making sure you hear a solid click and give the tube a firm pull to confirm it’s locked. HEADS UP That drip is coming from the product water line, not dirty feed water, so it’s clean. Still, a wet cabinet is a moldy cabinet, so get it fixed fast.

my ispring rcc7ak water pressure seems super weak after a few months, like it takes forever to fill a glass, what’s up with that?

FIX Yeah, this one's common. First, shut off the feed water valve and the tank valve. Pop out the three pre-filter housings (the first three big white canisters). Check the filters. The first-stage sediment filter is the usual culprit. If it’s brown or gunky, replace it. suggests every 6 months, but it totally depends on your water. While you're in there, check the carbon block filters (stages 2 & 3). Reassemble everything, making sure the O-rings are seated right and you hand-tighten plus a quarter-turn. Turn the water back on slowly and check for leaks. IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The actual culprit might be the flow restrictor itself in the RO drain line. If it’s faulty or has debris, it can restrict inlet pressure too much. You can try flushing it with water or replacing it (it’s the small blue plastic piece in the drain line tubing). HEADS UP When you change the pre-filters, you have to run water through the system for a good 10-15 minutes to flush out the carbon fines before you drink any. Otherwise, you’ll get black specks in your water.
