This is often caused by a "stale" IP assignment or a synchronization timeout between the WiFi 6 radios. In many cases, this happens because the child node is positioned just at the edge of the primary node's 5GHz coverage area. While it may have connected initially, a minor interference spike or a channel shift on the primary node can cause the child node to lose its backhaul connection. Once the connection is severed, the MX5300 cannot always autonomously reconnect without a fresh power cycle or a manual re-pairing sequence, leading to the total loss of WiFi signal in that specific area of your home. FIX To resolve a solid red state, you must perform a sequenced power cycle to clear the ARP cache and force a new handshake between the nodes. Follow these exact steps: Isolate the Failed Node: Unplug the power adapter from the back of the specific MX5300 node that is showing the solid red light. Leave it unplugged. Reset the Primary Gateway: Locate your primary Velop node (the one connected directly to your modem). Unplug its power cable. This is critical because the primary node manages the routing table and must be refreshed to "accept" the child node back into the mesh. Clear Residual Charge: Wait exactly 60 seconds. This ensures the capacitors in the power bricks are fully discharged. Boot the Primary Node: Plug the primary node back into the wall. Wait for the LED to transition from flashing purple to solid blue. Do not proceed until the primary node is fully online and providing internet to your devices. Reintroduce the Child Node: Plug the power back into the red node. The LED will likely flash purple or blue for several minutes as it searches for the primary node. Verify Connection: Wait up to 5 minutes. Once the LED turns solid blue, the node has successfully re-established its backhaul connection. IF THAT DIDN'T WORK Perform a Hard Factory Reset: If the red light persists, use a paperclip to press and hold the Reset button on the bottom of the node for a full 10-15 seconds until the light flashes red. Once the light turns purple, use the Linksys App to "Add a New Node" and go through the setup process again as if it were a brand new device. Test with a Wired Backhaul: Temporarily move the red node into the same room as the primary node and connect them using a Cat6 Ethernet cable. If the light turns blue, the issue is signal attenuation (distance/walls). If it stays red even when wired, the node may have a failing internal radio or a corrupted firmware partition. Avoid Over-Saturating: Adding too many nodes in a small area can cause "mesh interference," where nodes fight for the same channel, ironically leading to connection drops and red lights.
