Yeah, this one's common. It means there's still pressure inside. Do not force it open. If you're in doubt, let the canner stand until it's completely cool. The cover will release once all internal pressure is gone and the air vent/cover lock has dropped.

how do I clean the air vent on my denali tanker pressure canner? it feels sticky

Accepted Answer

First, turn the air vent/cover lock pin counterclockwise from the top of the cover to unscrew it from the cup underneath. Lift the pin out and remove the cup. Pull the small gasket off the cup's threaded shaft. Wash all parts in warm, soapy water. Use a soft cloth or small nylon brush to clean the cover hole. To reassemble, put the small gasket back on the cup's shaft. Push the cup's shaft up through the cover hole from underneath. Screw the pin back on clockwise until tight.

my denali tanker canner is leaking steam around the lid, what's wrong?

Leakage between the cover and body is caused by a shrunken sealing ring. Replace the sealing ring and the overpressure plug. If handles aren't aligned, the cover lock can't engage. Ensure cover handles are directly above the body handles.
