sceptre monitor colors look all wrong and washed out, hdmi cable is new, what gives?

— asked by Casey

Incorrect colors are usually a simple cable or setting issue. Let's rule out the basics first.

  1. Double-check that your HDMI cable is fully inserted at both the monitor and your computer. A loose connection, even on a new cable, can cause color problems.
  2. Open the monitor's On-Screen Display (OSD) by pressing the menu button. Navigate to the Color or Picture Mode settings. Make sure it's not set to a strange custom profile. You can select a preset like Standard or User.
  3. If you've been tinkering with settings, you can reset everything. In the OSD, go to OTHER and select RESET. This will revert all color and picture values back to factory default.

If that didn't work: The issue might be with your computer's graphics output. Try a different video source, like a game console or another computer, with the same HDMI cable. If the colors are correct on the other device, the problem is with your computer's graphics card or driver settings.
