Diagnosis
The motor is overheating due to excessive load or insufficient cooling. Primary cause is blending ingredients too thick or for durations exceeding the motor's duty cycle.
How to Fix It
Stop use immediately. Unplug the base and allow it to cool completely. For future use, limit continuous blending to 20-25 seconds for thick mixtures like nut butters or frozen fruit. Add more liquid. Use the pulse function for thicker tasks. Ensure the base vents on the bottom and sides are not blocked by a countertop or towel.
If That Didn't Work
The burning smell may indicate a failing motor bearing or insulation. If the base becomes hot and smells during normal, short blending of watery mixtures, the motor is defective.
Heads Up
The 900W motor is designed for personal blending cycles, not commercial continuous operation. Overheating can permanently damage the thermal fuse or motor windings, rendering the unit inoperable.
