Diagnosis
The LG LMV2031ST microwave, like many basic over-the-range models, is designed without an internal backup battery or capacitor for its clock memory. When the power supply is interrupted—even for a split-second flicker—the microwave's control board loses the small amount of voltage needed to retain the time and settings, forcing a full reset to the default 12:00.
How to Fix It
This reset behavior is inherent to the appliance's design and cannot be permanently fixed or disabled. After any power interruption, you must manually reset the clock:
- Press the Clock button.
- Use the number pad to enter the current time (e.g., for 1:30 PM, press 1, 3, 0).
- Press the Clock or Start button again to confirm and set.
If That Didn't Work
If the clock resets frequently without you noticing any lights flickering in your home, the issue may be localized to that appliance's circuit. Check if the microwave is plugged into a GFCI outlet that is tripping. Otherwise, a loose wire in the kitchen outlet, a failing wall plug, or a problem with the dedicated circuit breaker could be causing micro-interruptions. Consulting a licensed electrician to inspect the wiring and outlet is recommended in this case.

A power reset doesn't just affect the clock. All custom settings—including any programmed Sensor Cook options, Express Defrost programs, and the child lock—will be erased and need to be reprogrammed after the clock is set.
