Diagnosis
Washed-out colors on your Sansui monitor are most commonly caused by incorrect monitor settings, particularly an active HDR mode or an unsuitable color temperature preset. A misconfigured graphics driver or a faulty HDMI cable can also contribute to this issue.
How to Fix It
First, use the monitor's physical buttons to open the On-Screen Display (OSD) menu. Navigate to the "Settings" or "System" section and select "Factory Reset" or "Reset All" to restore default color profiles. Next, check for an "HDR" mode in the picture settings and ensure it is turned OFF, as it often overrides and flattens custom color settings. Finally, go to the color settings in the OSD and change the "Color Temperature" from "Cool" (which can appear bluish and washed out) to "User" or "Standard."
If That Didn't Work
The problem may be with your computer's output. Open your graphics card control panel (e.g., NVIDIA Control Panel or AMD Radeon Software) and ensure the output color depth is set to "Full" (0-255) and not "Limited" (16-235). Also, verify the resolution is set to the monitor's native 1920x1080. Try a different, high-quality HDMI cable to rule out a signal integrity issue.
Heads Up
Avoid setting digital vibrance or saturation to extreme levels in your graphics driver, as this can cause clipping and unnatural colors. For accurate color, use the monitor's "sRGB" or "Standard" picture mode after the reset.
