DIAGNOSIS A dead panel with a possible hum points to a power issue, but not a total loss. The hum suggests the inlet valve might be getting power, but the main control board isn't booting up. A failed control board or a loose connection is the prime suspect.
FIX First, do a hard reset. Turn off the circuit breaker that powers the dishwasher for a full 60 seconds, then turn it back on. This can sometimes reboot a glitchy control board. Open and close the door firmly to wake it up.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK Check the in-home power connection. The faint hum could be a clue that it's getting *some* power, but maybe not the full 120V. This could be a failing outlet, a loose wire in the junction box under the dishwasher, or a problem with the house's circuit. You'd need a multimeter to test this safely.
