Diagnosis
The control board or its power supply has likely lost power, either from a tripped household breaker, a loose plug, or a very rare internal fault.
How to Fix It
Start simple. 1) Check that the fridge is still running inside—lights on, cold? If yes, then just the display is out. 2) Go to your home’s circuit breaker panel and find the one labeled for the kitchen appliances or fridge. Flip it all the way OFF, then back ON. This is a hard reset. 3) Go back to the fridge. If the display is still blank, unplug the fridge from the wall outlet. Wait a full 60 seconds, then plug it firmly back in. You should hear a beep and see the display light up as it goes through a startup sequence.
If That Didn't Work
If the interior lights and cooling are also completely off, then the fridge has no power. The issue is with your outlet or house wiring. Plug a small lamp into the same outlet to test it. If the lamp doesn’t work, you’ve got an electrical problem that needs an electrician. If the lamp works but the fridge doesn’t, then the fridge’s power cord or internal wiring is damaged—that’s a job for a certified technician.
Heads Up
Don’t leave the fridge unplugged for more than a few minutes if you can help it, or your food will start to warm up. If you have to wait for service, keep the doors closed to retain cold air. A full freezer can stay cold for about 48 hours if unopened.
