Diagnosis
That’s the alert for a door left ajar. Either a door isn’t closing fully, or the door switch that tells the fridge it’s closed is faulty or blocked.
How to Fix It
First, diagnose which door is the culprit. The next time it beeps, open and firmly close each door one at a time, listening for a click from the switch near the top of the door frame. The beeping should stop when you close the problem door. If you find the door, check for anything blocking it from closing—an overstuffed bin, a food package, or even the ice bucket not sitting all the way back. Clear the obstruction and close it firmly. Also, check the rubber gasket around that door for food debris or stickiness that might be holding it open.
If That Didn't Work
If the doors are definitely closing all the way but it still beeps, the door switch might be failing. These are little plunger switches. You can test them by pressing the plunger in manually with your finger when the door is open. If you don’t hear a distinct click, or if the interior light doesn’t go out when you press it, that switch is likely bad and needs replacing. It’s a small, inexpensive part, but requires some disassembly to install.
Heads Up
This beeping is a battery-saver feature—it prevents the light from staying on and draining the control board if a door is accidentally left open. If you’re going to be loading groceries for a long time, you can temporarily disable the alarm by pressing the “Door Alarm” or “Lock” button on the control panel (if your model has one) for a few seconds.
