DIAGNOSIS This usually points to a power supply issue, not a dead appliance. The connection at the wall, the cord, or the outlet in the pot itself is the first place to look.
FIX 1) Check your wall outlet. Plug in a lamp or phone charger to confirm it's working. 2) Trace the power cord from the wall to the back of the Instant Pot. Make sure the cord is firmly plugged into the pot's base—it can look connected but not be fully seated. Unplug it and plug it back in. 3) Inspect the cord for any obvious damage, kinks, or chew marks (pets, right?).
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK Try a 'hard reset.' Unplug the cord from both the wall AND the back of the Instant Pot. Wait a full 2 minutes. Then, plug the cord firmly back into the pot first, then into the wall outlet. Sometimes the control board just needs a complete power cycle.
HEADS UP The Pro model doesn't have a separate power switch. It should always show a '0' or clock when plugged in. If it's still completely dead after these steps, the internal fuse might be blown, which requires manufacturer service.
