Diagnosis
The filter replacement indicator is a simple timer. It illuminates after approximately 6-8 months of cumulative fan operation. Installing new filters does not automatically reset it. You must manually reset the timer.
How to Fix It
With the unit plugged in and powered ON, locate the "Filter Reset" button on the control panel. Press and hold this button for 3-5 seconds. The filter indicator light will turn off. This resets the internal timer for another cycle.
If That Didn't Work
Confirm you are using official GermGuardian replacement filters (True HEPA Filter FLT5000 and Charcoal Pre-Filter CPF5000). Some third-party filters may not fit perfectly, preventing the filter compartment door from closing fully and triggering a sensor. Ensure the front grill is completely latched.
Heads Up
The timer is a guideline only. If you have pets or heavy dust, your True HEPA filter may need replacement before the light comes on. Visually check it every 3 months.
