This buildup creates a physical restriction that prevents the water from hitting the coffee grounds evenly, leading to "channeling" where water bypasses the coffee instead of extracting the oils. You can confirm this by examining the spray head (the part where water exits above the filter). If you see white, crusty deposits or if the water streams are uneven and "spraying" in random directions rather than a concentrated shower, your machine has significant scale accumulation. Furthermore, if the "Hot Water" function takes longer than usual to dispense or sounds like it is struggling (a high-pitched humming sound), the internal plumbing is constricted, reducing the pressure and thermal mass of the water hitting your coffee.
How to Fix It
To restore full strength and temperature, you must perform a deep chemical descale to dissolve the mineral deposits.
- Empty the water reservoir completely and remove any remaining coffee grounds and filters from the brew basket.

- Rinse the reservoir thoroughly with soap and water, then fill it to the Max line with fresh, filtered water.
- Run two full "Clean" cycles (without vinegar) to ensure no acidic residue remains, which would otherwise affect the taste of your next brew.
If That Didn't Work
