DIAGNOSIS The silicone sealing ring is porous and absorbs odors. It's a common issue with frequent use of strong spices.
FIX Remove the ring by pulling it out of the lid groove. Wash it in hot, soapy water. Boil it in a vinegar-water solution for 10 minutes, or run a steam cycle with vinegar and water in the pot. Air dry completely.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK Buy a spare set of official sealing rings. Designate one for savory foods and one for desserts or neutral dishes. Store them outside the lid in a ventilated area.
HEADS UP Never put the sealing ring in the dishwasher. The high heat and detergents degrade the silicone faster and can set in odors.
