DIAGNOSIS The coating is damaged. It is not safe to continue using it. Flakes can get into food and the exposed metal can corrode.
FIX You must replace the cooking pot. Order part number 90000-00067 (the 9-quart pot assembly). Do not use metal utensils or abrasive scrubbers on the new one. Hand wash with a soft sponge.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK If the new pot also shows quick wear, your cleaning method is the problem. Avoid dishwasher pods with citric acid or heavy degreasers. They degrade the coating.
HEADS UP Never use the unit without the pot in place. The heating elements will overheat and can melt internal components.
