Diagnosis
The Blendtec Classic 575 utilizes a safety interlock system consisting of both a magnetic reed switch and electrical contact pads. If the blender starts but cuts out almost immediately, it is typically because the base has lost a consistent "handshake" with the jar. This happens when the jar sensing circuit is interrupted, causing the logic board to shut down the motor to prevent the jar from launching or the drive socket from spinning without a load.
How to Fix It
To restore the connection between the jar and the base, follow these steps:
- Unplug the blender from the wall outlet.
- Remove the jar and flip it over to inspect the three gold-plated contact pads on the bottom.
- Use a cotton swab dipped in 70% or 91% isopropyl alcohol to clean these pads, removing any dried food residue, oils, or oxidation.
- Clean the corresponding spring-loaded pins on the blender base using the same method.
- Ensure the jar is placed firmly on the base and rotated fully into the locked position; a slight misalignment can break the circuit mid-cycle.
If That Didn't Work
If cleaning the contacts fails, the issue is likely mechanical:
- Magnet Failure: The magnet located in the jar's base may have shifted or lost its magnetism. If the internal reed switch in the motor base isn't triggered, the blender will stop. Try using a different Blendtec jar to see if the problem persists; if a second jar works, your original jar base needs replacement.
- Worn Drive Socket: Inspect the drive socket for excessive wear or debris that prevents the jar from seating deeply enough to engage the sensors.
- Control Board Glitch: Perform a hard reset by unplugging the unit for 10 minutes to clear the temporary memory.
