the used capsule container fills up with watery coffee sludge and overflows every time i brew

— asked by Casey

DIAGNOSIS The capsule puncture mechanism is not fully piercing the used capsule, or the exit channels are partially blocked. This causes liquid to drain slowly back into the container instead of being fully evacuated.

FIX Power off and unplug the machine. Open the brewing head. Inspect the 4 small exit holes in the grey capsule puncture plate. Use the provided pin tool to gently clear each hole. Check the rubber sealing ring for tears or debris that might prevent a tight seal. Wipe everything clean with a damp cloth.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The internal drain tube from the brewing unit to the container may be kinked or blocked. This requires disassembly. Before attempting, try running several empty water cycles with the container removed to see if water flows freely down the drain chute.

HEADS UP Empty the used capsule container after every 5-6 brews, not just when it's full of capsules. The liquid reservoir is small.
