DIAGNOSIS The warming plate on the FlexBrew Trio model 49902 does not have a variable temperature setting. It operates at a fixed temperature designed to keep coffee at approximately 175-185°F. If it's burning coffee, the thermostat regulating the plate may be faulty.
FIX First, ensure you are using the correct carafe. The warming plate is calibrated for the included thermal carafe, not a glass carafe. Using an incorrect carafe can lead to overheating. If using the correct carafe, unplug the unit and let it cool completely. Plug it back in and brew a full carafe of water only. Time how long it takes for the 'Keep Warm' light to turn off after the brew cycle finishes. It should cycle on and off to maintain temperature.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK If the 'Keep Warm' light stays on continuously for over an hour, the bimetal thermostat under the warming plate is stuck closed. This requires replacement of the warming plate assembly. Contact Hamilton Beach customer service with your model number for a potential replacement part or warranty claim.
HEADS UP Never place the thermal carafe on a cold or wet surface immediately after use. The sudden thermal shock can crack the stainless steel vacuum layer, ruining its insulation properties.
