DIAGNOSIS Three beeps indicates the carafe sensor is not engaged. The machine will not brew onto the warming plate without detecting the carafe in place, to prevent spills and burns.
FIX Confirm the thermal carafe is correctly positioned. The notch on the carafe lid must align with the tab on the brew basket. The entire carafe assembly must be pushed fully back against the sensor switch on the warming plate. You should hear a faint click. Clean the sensor area on the warming plate and the bottom of the carafe lid with a dry cloth to ensure good contact.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The micro-switch under the warming plate that the carafe depresses may be stuck or failed. Unplug the machine. Carefully tip it back to look underneath the warming plate area. Use a flashlight to locate a small plastic lever or button. Gently press it a few times to see if it moves freely. If it feels mushy or does not click, the switch needs replacement.
HEADS UP Do not attempt to bypass this safety switch by taping it down. The warming plate will remain active during the brew cycle, creating a severe scalding hazard from steam and hot water splashing onto a hot surface.
