DIAGNOSIS Loss of communication between the key fob and the generator's receiver. The cause is typically a dead fob battery, the generator not being in remote start mode, or signal interference.
FIX Follow this sequence. One, replace the key fob's CR2032 battery. Two, on the generator's control panel, ensure the main power switch is ON and the mode selector switch is set to the 'Remote' symbol, not 'Manual'. Three, stand within 80 feet with a clear line of sight, press and hold the fob's 'Start' button for 2 seconds.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The key fob may need to be re-paired with the generator. Consult the owner's manual for the pairing procedure, which involves a specific sequence using the generator's control panel buttons and the fob.
HEADS UP The remote start system will not engage if the generator is out of oil, out of fuel, or if the battery voltage is too low to crank. Always perform basic checks before troubleshooting the remote.
