Diagnosis
The turntable's rotation is driven by a small motor located beneath the microwave's cavity floor. The most common failure points are the plastic drive coupler (the hub that connects the motor to the tray) and the motor itself. The coupler can crack or its teeth can wear down, or the motor can burn out from age or obstruction.
How to Fix It
- Unplug the microwave for safety.
- Remove the glass tray and the plastic roller ring beneath it.
- Look at the small, white plastic drive coupler protruding from the center of the cavity floor. Check for cracks, missing teeth, or a worn-down shape.
- If the coupler is damaged, you can usually replace it by pulling it straight up and off the motor shaft, then pressing a new one on. Part # WB27X10070 is common for this model.
- If the coupler looks fine, the motor may have failed. Testing it requires a multimeter to check for continuity and proper voltage during operation, which is a more advanced repair.
If That Didn't Work
First, double-check that the glass tray and roller ring are clean and correctly aligned. If the motor is confirmed dead, you must replace the entire turntable motor assembly. This involves removing the outer cabinet, which carries a risk of electric shock from the high-voltage capacitor even when unplugged. For most users, this step warrants calling a professional technician.
