what's the snowflake symbol for? it doesn't produce any heat

— asked by Alex

DIAGNOSIS The snowflake (✱) is the anti-freeze setting, not a heating setting. It maintains a room temperature just above freezing (~41°F/5°C) to prevent pipes from bursting.

FIX To produce heat, turn the thermostat dial clockwise from the snowflake symbol to a numbered setting (1-6). The power indicator light will remain on. The higher the number, the higher the target room temperature.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK If the heater does not produce heat on setting 1 or higher, refer to the "no heat" diagnostic procedure.

HEADS UP Using only the snowflake setting in a living space will not provide perceptible warmth. It is for frost protection in unoccupied spaces.
