why does my spotlight cam pro's motion alerts lag so bad, sometimes i get them 5 minutes after someone's at the door

DIAGNOSIS This is almost always a Wi-Fi signal strength or internet upload speed issue at the camera's location, not a problem with the camera's sensor itself.

FIX First, check the RSSI (signal strength) in the Ring app under Device Health. Anything worse than -65 is trouble. Try moving your router, adding a Wi-Fi extender, or using Ring's Chime Pro as a dedicated network extender. Also, run a speed test from a device near the camera—your upload speed needs to be solid for the video to get to the cloud and trigger the alert.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The problem might be 'Live View' related. If you or someone else frequently uses Live View, it can monopolize the connection and delay motion processing. Try to limit Live View usage and see if alert times improve.

HEADS UP The 'Advanced Motion Detection' settings (like People Only Mode) add processing time in the cloud. If speed is critical, you might have to turn those off and deal with more false alerts from cars or animals.
