Yes, you can, but you need to use the right setting to protect your floors. The vacuum has a feature specifically for this.
- Locate the dial or lever on the cleaner head. This is the floor selector.
- Turn the dial to the setting for hard floors. This is usually the lowest height setting or marked with a hard floor icon.
- This setting retracts the brush roll slightly so the soft bristles can still agitate dust but the hard plastic housing won't scrape the floor. It also opens a port for better suction on bare surfaces.
It's also a good idea to make sure the brush roll is clean and free of any abrasive debris like sand or small pebbles before you start.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK: If you're still concerned about marks, you can use the vacuum in its lift-away canister mode with just the hose and a soft dusting brush attachment. This gives you suction-only cleaning with no brush roll contact at all.
