can i use my shark navigator professional on hardwood floors without scratching them?

Yes, you can, but you need to use the right setting to protect your floors. The vacuum has a feature specifically for this.

  1. Locate the dial or lever on the cleaner head. This is the floor selector.
  2. Turn the dial to the setting for hard floors. This is usually the lowest height setting or marked with a hard floor icon.
  3. This setting retracts the brush roll slightly so the soft bristles can still agitate dust but the hard plastic housing won't scrape the floor. It also opens a port for better suction on bare surfaces.

It's also a good idea to make sure the brush roll is clean and free of any abrasive debris like sand or small pebbles before you start.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK: If you're still concerned about marks, you can use the vacuum in its lift-away canister mode with just the hose and a soft dusting brush attachment. This gives you suction-only cleaning with no brush roll contact at all.

HEADS UP: Always empty the dust cup before switching from carpet to hard floors to prevent any trapped debris from being blown back out onto your clean floor.
