how do i clean the filters on my shark navigator nv356e? it's losing suction.

— asked by Sarah

Clogged filters are the most common cause of suction loss. Clean both the foam and felt filters.

  • Foam Filter: Rinse it under cold tap water until the water runs clear. Gently squeeze out excess water—don't wring or twist. Let it air dry completely for at least 24 hours before reinstalling. Never run the vacuum with a damp filter.
  • Felt Filter: Tap it gently over a trash can to dislodge fine dust. Do not wash this filter.

Reinstall both filters only when completely dry. The model uses specific filter types; replacements are part numbers like XFF350.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK: Check the dust cup. Empty it and ensure the intake port at the top of the cup isn't blocked. Also, detach the hose and check for clogs in the hose, wand, or cleaner head.

HEADS UP: For optimal performance, rinse the foam filter every 3 months and replace both filters as needed, typically once a year with normal use.
