how do you take apart the dyson v8 to clean the inside? the manual isn't clear.

You do not fully disassemble it. You clean specific, user-accessible parts: the bin, the cyclone, and the filters.

Procedure for deep cleaning:

  1. Remove the bin. Pull back on the red catch on the bin base. Slide the bin down and pull it off. Wipe with a damp, lint-free cloth. Do not use detergents or put in a dishwasher. Dry completely.
  2. Remove the cyclone. With the bin off, locate the cyclone release button behind the cyclone and push to remove it.
  3. Clean accessible areas. With the bin and cyclone removed, check the main body inlet for blockages. Wipe the interior with a dry cloth.
  4. Wash both filters. Pre-filter lifts out. Post-filter twists off. Wash under cold water until clear. Dry for 24+ hours.
  5. Reassemble. Slide the cyclone into the main body grooves. Push down. Align the bin tabs with the body grooves and slide up until it clicks. Push the bin base up until it clicks shut.

If that didn't work: Weak suction after reassembly likely means a filter is still damp or a blockage remains in the wand or cleaner head. Re-check.

Heads up: Do not wash any cleaner head or motorised tool (like the Mini motorised tool). They contain electronics. Only wipe with a damp cloth.
