The specs list 7 watts during operation and 0.8 watts in standby. Compared to a basic, single-function printer, that's higher. The power is running the scanner mechanism, fax modem, Wi-Fi radio, and the print engine all in one box.
If you think it's excessively high, check that it's actually going into standby (the display should go dark or show a minimal indicator). If it's staying in a ready state, a stuck network connection or failed sleep timer can cause that. A power cycle usually fixes it.
Heads up: If you're concerned about energy use, plug it into a power strip and turn it off completely when not in use for extended periods. The standby consumption is relatively low at 0.8W.
