You're probably looking at clogged print heads. It happens, especially if the printer sits unused for a bit. Don't worry, the printer has a built-in cleaning cycle for this.
- First, make sure you removed all the tape from the new ink cartridges and installed them firmly until they click.
- On the printer's control panel, navigate to the maintenance or settings menu. Look for an option called "Clean Print Head" or "Deep Cleaning." Run it.
- After the cycle finishes, print a nozzle check pattern (also in the maintenance menu). If the lines are still broken or faint, run the cleaning cycle one more time.
If that didn't work, the paper type setting might be wrong. Check your print settings on the computer and make sure it's set to "Plain Paper" for regular documents, not a specialty setting like "Photo Paper."
