You're likely missing oil or overcrowding. For crisp results, you need air circulation and a light coating of fat.
Fix:
- Use a tiny bit of oil: Toss your food with about 1/2 teaspoon of oil per batch in a separate bowl before adding it to the rack.
- Don't overfill: Food must not go past the MAX line in the basket. Fill loosely.
- Shake or flip: When the SHAKE light comes on and it beeps, pull the basket and toss the food for even exposure.
If that didn't work: Try preheating. Let the empty air fryer run at your target temperature for 2-3 minutes before adding food. This gives a hotter starting environment.
Heads up: Never spray the baskets or racks with oil from an aerosol can. Use a non-aerosol oil mister or toss by hand. Aerosol sprays contain propellants that chip the nonstick coating.
