Diagnosis
The rattling noise during air frying is typically caused by mechanical vibration or interference. Because the air fry function utilizes a high-speed convection fan, any loose accessory, improperly seated rack, or foreign object creates a resonant vibration or direct contact noise. If the sound is a consistent "clicking" or "scraping," it is likely a physical obstruction; if it is a "shaking" or "buzzing," it is likely a loose component vibrating against the oven chassis.
How to Fix It
Follow these steps to eliminate the noise:
- Verify Accessory Seating: Ensure the air fry basket or baking pan is pushed completely flush against the back of the unit. If the pan is slightly skewed, the high-velocity air can cause it to chatter against the rack.
- Check Rack Alignment: Remove the rack and re-insert it, ensuring it is locked firmly into the designated air fry position. A tilted rack can cause the basket to vibrate.
- Clear the Cavity: Remove any aluminum foil, parchment paper, or oversized utensils. Even a small piece of foil fluttering in the airflow can sound like a loud rattle.
- Secure the Crumb Tray: Slide the crumb tray out and re-insert it firmly. If the tray is loose, the fan's vibration can cause the metal tray to rattle against the bottom of the oven.
If That Didn't Work
The issue may be internal debris or a fan imbalance:
- Inspect for Debris: Unplug the unit and allow it to cool completely. Use a flashlight to look through the vents at the rear of the oven. Look for food particles, cardboard scraps, or plastic wrap that may have been sucked into the fan housing.
- External Stability: Ensure the oven is sitting on a completely flat, level surface. An uneven countertop can amplify the fan's natural vibration into a loud rattle.
Heads Up
Avoid using third-party accessories or oversized pans that touch the heating elements or block the rear airflow. This can not only cause noise but may damage the convection fan motor or cause the unit to overheat.
