Diagnosis
The self-propelled function on your EGO LM2135SP mower typically fails for a few specific mechanical or electrical reasons. The most common culprit is a jammed or obstructed mechanical switch actuator on the handle assembly. If that moves freely, the issue is likely a poor electrical connection in the wire harness or, less commonly, a failed switch component or drive motor itself.
How to Fix It
- With the battery removed, inspect the black plastic switch actuator (lever) on the top of the right handle. Press it and ensure it moves smoothly without catching on debris.
- Trace the internal wire harness from the handle down the deck to the self-propelled drive unit. Confirm the white plastic connectors at both ends are fully seated and locked. Unplug and replug them to ensure a good connection.
- Check the physical condition of the wires for any obvious pinches, cuts, or damage, especially where the harness passes through the deck.
If That Didn't Work
If the connections and actuator are fine, the switch electric assembly inside the handle may be faulty and require a continuity test with a multimeter. A failure of the self-propelled drive motor module is also possible, but this is less frequent. For exact replacement parts, refer to the specific part numbers for your mower's production run: the switch actuator is often part #3129714001 or #3131603001, and the internal wire assembly is #2826843001.
