The bag frame, mulch plug, or side discharge chute is not installed correctly, or the bag frame is damaged.
Follow this checklist:
- Confirm the mulch plug (part number 5) is fully removed if using the grass catcher.
- Ensure the side discharge chute (part number 4) is also removed.
- Inspect the bag frame (part number 6). Look for bent or broken plastic tabs that lock into the mower deck.
- Check the grass catcher (part number 3) itself. The fabric should be securely attached to its plastic frame. If detached, it won't seat properly.
- Verify the bag frame is pushed all the way forward until it clicks into place on the rear cover (part number 20).
If that didn't work, the rear cover or trail shield (part number 21) on the mower deck may be bent, preventing a proper latch.
Heads up: Always empty the bag before it is completely full to reduce stress on the frame and attachment points.
