Diagnosis
The appearance of uneven strips or "mohawks" of uncut grass on an EGO LM2135SP is typically caused by one of three things: an improper cutting height setting, a dull or improperly installed blade, or a buildup of debris that is physically lifting the deck or obstructing the airflow required for a clean cut.
How to Fix It
Follow these steps to restore a uniform cut:
- Verify Height Consistency: Use the height adjusting lever (part number 3322429001) to ensure all four wheels are locked into the exact same position. If one wheel is slightly higher than the others, the deck will tilt, leaving strips of uncut grass.
- Clear the Deck: Turn off the mower and remove the battery. Inspect the underside of the deck and the area around the trail shield (part number 3129771001). Remove any packed grass clippings or mud that may be preventing the deck from sitting flush against the turf.
- Inspect the Blade: Check the blade (part number 3707066004) for nicks, bends, or dullness. A dull blade tears grass rather than cutting it, which can lead to uneven patches.
- Validate Hardware: Ensure the blade is securely fastened. Verify that the wave washer (part number 5650453001) and lock nut (part number 5630351002) are properly seated and tightened to prevent blade wobble.
If That Didn't Work
If the mower still leaves strips, inspect the wheel assemblies (part number 2824429003). Check for bent axles or cracked plastic housings. If a wheel assembly is warped, the mower will lean during operation, creating an uneven cut regardless of the lever setting. In this case, replacing the damaged wheel assembly is necessary.
