Diagnosis
F01 is a generic communication error between the main control board (the user interface you touch) and the motor control board. One isn't talking to the other on the internal data line.
How to Fix It
First, try a hard reset. Unplug the dryer from the wall outlet for 5 full minutes. This clears any temporary glitch in the control boards. Plug it back in and see if the error clears. If it comes back immediately, you'll need to check the wiring harness connecting the two boards. Unplug the dryer, access the control panel area, and look for the multi-wire connector. Check that it's fully seated and that no pins are bent or corroded.
If That Didn't Work
If the wiring is fine, one of the control boards has likely failed. Unfortunately, without specialized diagnostic tools, it's hard to tell which one. The main UI board is more common to fail. You can try reseating all other connectors on both boards as a last-ditch effort before part replacement.
Heads Up
When dealing with error codes, writing down the exact code and the sequence of what you were doing when it appeared (e.g., 'pressed start, heard a click, then F01') can be helpful if you need to call for service. They'll ask.
