Diagnosis
A leak from the bottom of your Hamilton Beach Power Elite blender jar almost always indicates a compromised seal at the connection point between the glass jar and the blade assembly. The culprit is typically a damaged or misaligned rubber gasket (also called a sealing ring or O-ring) located under the blade assembly, or food debris preventing a tight seal.
How to Fix It
- Unplug the blender. Unscrew the blade assembly from the glass jar by turning it counter-clockwise.
- Remove the blade assembly and the flat, black rubber gasket that sits in a groove around its base.
- Thoroughly clean the gasket, the groove it sits in, and the glass jar's threaded opening to remove any food particles or residue.
- Inspect the gasket for cracks, splits, warping, or brittleness. If damaged, you must replace it with a genuine Hamilton Beach part (often part #60050 or similar for Wave Action models).
- If the gasket is intact, re-seat it perfectly in its groove. Ensure it's not twisted.
- Hand-tighten the blade assembly back onto the jar clockwise as firmly as possible. Do not use tools, as overtightening can crack the glass or damage the threads.
If That Didn't Work
Check if the blade assembly itself is cracked, especially the plastic center post. Also, inspect the glass jar's threads for chips or cracks. If the jar or blade base is damaged, the entire jar assembly must be replaced. Confirm the blender base isn't overfilled with liquid, as pressure from exceeding the "Max" line can force liquid past even a good seal during blending.
Heads Up
Always ensure the jar and blade assembly are completely dry before reassembling, as a wet gasket can slip. Never run the blender without the jar properly locked onto the motor base, and avoid immersing the blade assembly's central shaft/bearing area in water to prevent lubricant washout.
