honeywell hpa300 air flow seems really weak even on high, what's wrong?

— asked by Morgan

Airflow is blocked. The most common cause is a clogged filter.

  1. Power off and unplug the unit.
  2. Remove the front grille and inspect the True HEPA filter. If it appears dark gray, packed with dust, or damaged, it needs replacement.
  3. Even if the "Check Filter" light isn't on, heavy use in a dusty or pet-filled home can clog a filter before the timer activates.
  4. Check the air intake grilles (usually on the sides or back) and the output vent for any obstructions like furniture, curtains, or dust buildup.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK: If a new, genuine filter doesn't restore strong airflow, the internal fan motor is likely failing and cannot achieve its proper RPM. The unit requires service.

HEADS UP: Regularly vacuuming the exterior grilles can help prevent dust from clogging the intake before it even reaches the filter.
