how do i change my milwaukee drill from drill mode to screwdriver mode?

— asked by Mike

You use the torque selector collar, that ring right behind the chuck.

  1. First, make sure the tool is stopped completely.
  2. To drill: Rotate the collar until the drill symbol lines up with the arrow.
  3. To drive screws: Rotate the collar until your desired clutch setting number (1-14) lines up with the arrow. Start with a lower setting for small screws in softwood.

The clutch will slip at a preset torque to prevent over-driving screws. The numbers on the collar do nothing in drill mode. Always test on scrap material first to find the right setting.

If you have the hammer drill model (2804-20), you also have a hammer symbol setting for masonry.
