Diagnosis
Splatter on the base of your PowerXL Air Fryer Pro 6QT is common from grease or food particles escaping during cooking. The base houses the heating element, electronics, and control panel, so it requires careful, non-immersive cleaning to avoid electrical damage and preserve the appliance's finish.
How to Fix It
Always clean the base by hand. Never submerge it in water.
- Unplug the appliance and allow it to cool to room temperature.
- Wipe the exterior and the interior cavity (where the basket sits) with a clean, damp microfiber cloth to remove loose debris.
- For stuck-on grease or residue, dip a soft cloth in a solution of warm water and a few drops of mild dish soap. Wring it out thoroughly so it's only damp, not dripping.
- Gently scrub the affected areas on the base. Avoid abrasive pads, steel wool, and harsh chemical cleaners, which can scratch surfaces and damage the control panel.
- Use a separate cloth dampened with clean water to wipe away any soapy residue.
- Dry all surfaces completely with a soft, dry towel before plugging the unit back in or reassembling.
If That Didn't Work
For extremely stubborn, baked-on splatter, try these targeted methods:
- Create a paste from baking soda and a small amount of water. Apply it to the residue, let it sit for 10-15 minutes, then gently wipe it away with a damp cloth.
- For grease on the stainless steel exterior, a dedicated stainless steel cleaner applied to a cloth (not sprayed directly on the unit) can be effective. Always test in an inconspicuous area first.
- Ensure you are not using a petroleum-based cleaner (like some grill cleaners), as these can damage plastic components and the control panel.
Heads Up
Only the cooking pot and glass lid are dishwasher safe. The main base unit, air fryer basket, and any components with a non-stick coating should always be hand-washed to prolong their life, even if labeled as dishwasher safe.
