how do i clean the nest screen? it's got fingerprints and smudges and i'm scared to damage it

DIAGNOSIS The glossy plastic display and glass lens are prone to smudges from skin oils. Using improper cleaners can damage the anti-glare coating.

FIX Power off the system at the breaker for safety. Remove the Nest display from the base. Use a dry, soft microfiber cloth to gently wipe the screen. For stubborn marks, slightly dampen the cloth with distilled water only.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK For grease, use a 50/50 mix of distilled white vinegar and distilled water on the microfiber cloth. Wipe gently. Immediately dry the screen and the metal ring with a second dry microfiber cloth.

HEADS UP Never use window cleaners, isopropyl alcohol, ammonia-based products, or paper towels. These will permanently haze or scratch the display lens. Avoid getting moisture in the charging port on the back.
