Diagnosis
The monitor has a standard matte anti-glare coating that can be smeared or damaged by improper cleaners and abrasive materials.
How to Fix It
1. Power off the monitor and unplug it.
2. Use a dry, soft microfiber cloth (like for eyeglasses or cameras) to gently wipe away loose dust.
3. For smudges, lightly dampen a second microfiber cloth with distilled water or a 50/50 mix of distilled water and white vinegar.
4. Wipe the screen gently in a circular motion. Do not spray liquid directly onto the screen.
5. Immediately dry the screen with a clean, dry microfiber cloth.
If That Didn't Work
For stubborn marks, use a monitor-specific cleaning solution labeled safe for anti-glare coatings. Apply a small amount to the microfiber cloth, not the screen. Test on a small corner first.
Heads Up
Never use window cleaner, ammonia-based cleaners, alcohol, acetone, or abrasive cloths like paper towels. These will permanently degrade the anti-glare coating, leaving a cloudy or streaked appearance.
