Incorrect cleaning materials are smearing oils and activating the anti-glare coating, creating streaks.
How to Fix It
Use the correct two-step process. First, power off the monitor and let it cool. Second, use a dry, clean, lint-free microfiber cloth. Gently wipe the screen in a single direction using light pressure. For stubborn smudges, dampen a corner of the cloth with distilled water only. Wipe the area, then immediately dry it with the dry portion of the cloth.
If That Didn't Work
For persistent grease, use a monitor-specific cleaning solution. Apply the solution to the microfiber cloth, never directly to the screen. A 50/50 mix of distilled white vinegar and distilled water is an acceptable last-resort homemade solution. Test on a small corner first.
Heads Up
Never use window cleaners, alcohol, ammonia, or abrasive cloths. These will permanently degrade the anti-glare coating, leaving a permanent cloudy or scratched appearance. The damage is not covered under warranty.
