Diagnosis
The blending shaft of your Ovente hand blender gets dirty from food contact. It must be cleaned after each use to prevent residue buildup and maintain hygiene. The main question is whether the cleaning method can be automated via dishwasher or must be done manually.
How to Fix It
Always unplug the blender and detach the motor handle from the blending shaft first. For cleaning:
- Wash only the detachable stainless steel blending shaft by hand using warm water and mild dish soap.
- Use a soft brush or sponge to gently remove food particles from the blades and shaft. Avoid abrasive scrubbers.
- Rinse thoroughly under running water to remove all soap residue.
- Dry the shaft completely with a clean towel before reattaching it to the motor handle or storing it. Ensure no water remains in the crevices around the blade assembly.
If That Didn't Work
For stuck-on food, soak the blending shaft in warm, soapy water for 10-15 minutes to loosen residue before gently scrubbing. Never use sharp objects to scrape the blades. If a persistent odor remains, a solution of water and baking soda can be used for soaking and cleaning.
Heads Up
Do not immerse the motor handle in water or put any part of the blender in a dishwasher. The motor unit is not waterproof, and dishwasher heat and detergents can damage the shaft's materials and blade seal. Always ensure the shaft is fully dry before storage to prevent rust or corrosion.
