DIAGNOSIS The small-diameter grease drain tube is obstructed by congealed fat and food particles. This is a common maintenance point due to the compact design.
FIX Let the grill cool completely. Remove the grease drain cup. Use a standard kettle-style BBQ grill brush. Insert the long, thin metal handle into the drain tube from the bottom. Gently work it upward to break up the clog. Follow by pouring a small amount of hot, soapy water down the tube from inside the grill.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK For a severe clog, use a flexible plumbing snake or a long, stiff zip tie. Feed it carefully up the tube. Avoid sharp tools that could damage the aluminum drip channel.
HEADS UP Clean the grease drain after every cook while the grease is still liquid. A fully clogged drain will cause grease to pool in the bottom of the grill, creating a significant fire hazard.
