how do you clean the outside of the mr coffee programmable? the stainless steel part looks stained and greasy

— asked by Sarah

Those stains are usually coffee splatter or kitchen grease. You'll want to unplug the machine and let it cool first.

  1. Dampen a soft cloth with warm water and a mild dish soap.
  2. Wipe down the stainless steel housing. Always wipe with the grain of the metal, not in circles.
  3. For stubborn stains, use a dedicated stainless steel cleaner. Apply it to your cloth, not directly on the machine.
  4. Dry the surface immediately with a clean, dry cloth to prevent water spots.
  5. For the plastic parts and control panel, use only a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.

If that didn't work: For baked-on grease or mineral deposits from steam, make a paste of baking soda and water. Apply gently with the cloth, wipe, and rinse thoroughly with a damp cloth.

Heads up: Never immerse the coffeemaker base, cord, or plug in water or other liquids. Clean only the exterior surfaces.
