Diagnosis
A solid blue Wi-Fi light, rather than a blinking one, means your HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e is connected to a Wi-Fi network and not actively in setup mode. This is a normal operational state for an already connected printer. The blinking light only appears during the initial connection process or when you are actively trying to change the network. If you are attempting to set up the printer for the first time or connect it to a new network and the light is solid, it indicates the printer's internal Wi-Fi setup process has timed out or was completed on a previous attempt, preventing it from broadcasting its setup signal.
How to Fix It
To get the light blinking again and re-enter setup mode, you must reset the printer's network settings. On the printer's touchscreen: 1. Swipe down from the top to open the Dashboard. 2. Tap the "Setup" (wrench) icon. 3. Go to "Network Setup" > "Restore Network Settings." 4. Confirm "Yes." The printer will restart its network hardware. After about 60 seconds, the Wi-Fi light should begin blinking, indicating it is ready for setup. You can then proceed with the HP Smart app to complete the connection to your desired Wi-Fi network.
If That Didn't Work
If the light remains solid after a network reset, the issue is often with the device you're using for setup. First, disable any VPN connection on your phone or computer, as VPNs can block the local network discovery required for setup. For mobile setup via HP Smart, also ensure Bluetooth and Location Services (GPS) are enabled on your device, as the app uses these to facilitate the connection. As a last resort, perform a full factory reset from the printer's settings menu, which will clear all network and custom settings and force the printer into setup mode on restart.
Heads Up
The printer's Wi-Fi Direct or setup mode has a limited timeout window. If you don't complete the connection process within that time, the light will go solid. You must restart the setup mode, as described above, to try again. Also, a solid light confirms a past successful connection, so if the printer is working, you don't need to change anything.
