Diagnosis
The "Burn" message triggers when the bottom sensor overheats, meaning food is sticking and scorching before pressure builds. Rice and thick sauces are common culprits.
How to Fix It
For rice, use the specific "Rice" function, not Manual/Pressure. Always add the liquid first, then the rice. Do not stir. The Rice program uses a lower heat profile to prevent burning.
If That Didn't Work
You may have a faulty temperature sensor. Run a test: add 3 cups of water only to the pot and run a 5-minute manual high-pressure cycle. If it still shows "Burn," the sensor needs service.
Heads Up
Never use the "Sauté" function immediately before pressure cooking without deglazing. Any browned bits left on the pot bottom will instantly trigger the Burn warning.
