When the machine takes three times longer than normal, it means the refrigerant is unable to pull heat away from the water quickly enough, or the compressor is struggling to maintain the necessary pressure to reach the freezing point. This is typically caused by "thermal saturation." If the ambient air around the machine is too warm (above 75°F/24°C) or if the air vents are obstructed, the condenser coils cannot dump the heat they've extracted from the water. Additionally, if you are using lukewarm tap water (above 50°F), the machine must spend the first several minutes of the cycle simply cooling the water to the freezing point before actual ice crystallization begins, effectively doubling or tripling the cycle time. You can confirm this by feeling the air coming out of the side vents; if the air is barely warm or excessively hot, the ventilation is the primary culprit.
How to Fix It
To restore the 6-minute production cycle, follow these precise optimization steps:
- Optimize Water Temperature: Empty the reservoir and fill it with chilled, filtered water (ideally between 38°F and 42°F). This bypasses the initial cooling phase and allows the evaporator pins to begin freezing the water immediately.

If That Didn't Work

- Evaluate the Ambient Humidity: In extremely humid environments, the condenser is less efficient. Try running a dehumidifier in the room or moving the machine to an air-conditioned space to see if production speed improves.
