When the refrigerant is insufficient or the compressor is underperforming, the water only partially freezes on the outer shell of the pins, resulting in "slushy" ice that lacks a dense core and melts almost immediately upon hitting the basket. This issue is often caused by a restriction in the refrigerant flow or a micro-leak in the sealed system. If the unit is running (you can hear the hum of the compressor) but the ice is thin, it means the cooling cycle is incomplete. You can confirm this by touching the sides of the machine; if the exterior feels lukewarm while the machine is running, the heat is not being dissipated from the condenser coils, preventing the evaporator from getting cold enough to create solid bullet ice.
How to Fix It
To restore proper freezing capacity and ice density, follow these precise calibration and environment steps:
